Jean PAQUIN – President & CEO
A co-founder of SAF+ Consortium Inc. (“SAF+”) and the Carbon Consult Group Inc. (“CCG”), Jean has over 30 years’ combined experience in sectors including carbon management, aviation management and development of renewable energy projects worldwide. He was previously Senior Director of Business Development and Director of the Hydro Generation Department for one of Canada’s largest independent power producers, Northland Power. In addition, Jean was Business Development Director for one of the world’s leading wind and solar energy consultants, DNV. Prior to that, Jean founded a Canadian home construction project in Europe and directed a management company in Spain. He has a wide range of expertise with various organizations in areas such as engineering, management, project finance and environmental management. Jean has a master’s degree in business and administration (eMBA) from the John Molson School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Concordia University. Jean is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
Pierre GONTHIER – VP of Legal Affairs
Pierre has been involved with SAF+ since its incorporation in January 2019, and he has served as general counsel for SAF+ since then. After keeping our business out of harm’s way in the early years, he joined the management team in April 2021. Pierre was called to the Bar in 1989 and has practised in the Government, with a large accounting firm and in private practice. His experience covers 30 years in the areas of mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, tax and estate planning, tax litigation and international taxation. A law graduate of McGill University and holder of a master’s degree in taxation and an MBA in international business from HEC Montréal, Pierre is also a member of the board of governors of the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law, a registered charity and an accredited NGO observer to the United Nations dedicated to promoting legal education and legal research on corporate sustainability and ecosystem protection by promoting the understanding, development and implementation of international sustainable development law.
Marc POULIN – VP of Business Development
Marc joined the SAF+ team at the end of 2019 as VP, Business Development. He is responsible for developing the company’s business strategy as well as forging partnerships with companies in the industry. Marc recently participated in the creation and growth of the start-up HALEO, a virtual service for the treatment of sleep disorders. He is also deeply involved in Montreal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, where he provides volunteer coaching and mentoring services to organizations such as Futurpreneur and the Montreal Foundation Inc. Marc has nearly 30 years’ professional experience in the renewable energy and telecommunications sectors including several years in Latin America. Marc holds a B.Sc. in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from McGill University.
Alexandru IORDAN – VP of Technology
A cofounder of SAF+ Consortium Inc, Alex lead the development and operations of our first pilot plant and is currently overseeing the technology development and project management activities of the company. Drawing on 15 years experience in the field of environmental management and clean tech, he aims to deliver bold new approaches for the transition to a low-carbon economy. Prior to that, Alex spearheaded the strategy regarding environmental regulations at Bombardier Aerospace and contributed to clean tech development at the National Research Council of Canada. He played an active role in several expert groups such as IAEG, AIA and ICAO CAEP work group on CORSIA. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree from the University of Strasbourg, France. In 2019 he received the prestigious CLEAN 50 Emerging leader award for his contribution to sustainable development in Canada.
Peter PEDERSON – Lead Process Developper
Chemical engineer with 42 years of experience focused on technologies for syngas generation and downstream syntheses for producing Ammonia, Methanol, Hydrogen, Chemicals and Synthetic fuels, NG-to-Liquids, Coal-to-Liquids, Biomass/Biogas/Landfill Gas-to-Liquids, in short: XTC, XTL, XTF. Has a diversified background in chemical plant operations support, technology evaluations & selections, process development (“process architect”), managing and coaching engineering teams, project coordination and consulting in general. Work history: Haldor Topsoe, Maersk Oil & Gas, Howe-Baker Engineers (now CBI), Rentech (FT technology). Founded Stovlbaek Consulting 15 years ago, an independent consultancy in the technical fields described above and with a long list of clients.

Keith LAWLESS – Senior Director, Environment, Ets & Strategic Projects at AIR TRANSAT
Keith was one of the first supporters of SAF+ and certainly the most enthusiastic. He recognized several years ago the urgent need for the aviation industry to decarbonize and the tremendous potential of the SAF+ PtL technology. He offers SAF+ an airline (end user) viewpoint, provides technical advice and coordinates with a vast network of aviation and sustainability groups. He is currently responsible for environmental compliance, sustainability, and emissions trading and reporting at Air Transat. He has worked as an engineer, consultant, and manager in a wide variety of businesses in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia and has held positions in Production Management, Materials Management, Project Management, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and Sustainability. He has an engineering degree from McGill University (Canada), an MBA from McGill/Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), a certificate in inventory and production management (CPIM), and a certificate in Business Leadership Development from Christ Church University of Oxford (UK). Keith received a Clean50 award in 2021 given to the top 50 sustainability leaders in Canada.
Mathieu CLAISE – Director of Public Affairs & Communications
Senior Consultant in Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, Mr. Mathieu Claise served from 2014 to 2019 as Director of Government and Public Affairs for the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. In addition to directing communications for the organization and the largest expansion project in the history of the Quebec City Airport, Mr. Claise was also responsible for creating and maintaining close relationships with the various communities and stakeholders. Prior to founding his own public relations company in 2013, Mr. Claise worked for the communications firm Hill+Knowlton Strategies, where he was a public relations account manager in the Quebec City office. He was also a consultant director at Optimum Relations Publiques, a communications firm owned by Cossette, after having worked for more than ten years as a journalist, notably with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Canadian Press and Télé-Québec. After working as an advertising and corporate communications account executive at DDB in Paris, he returned to Quebec and held the position of Director of Communications and Investor Relations for a public biotechnology company. Mathieu Claise holds a certificate in digital marketing from Oxford University, a bachelor’s degree in political science from Laval University and has done studies in journalism.
Pascal GENEVIÈVE – Co-founder and General Manager at CCG
Pascal deals with the operations of the company through the management of a team of collaborators on projects across Canada and abroad. From a management perspective, Pascal is recognized for being a motivational leader who brings individuals to work as a team and face challenges with innovative solutions. He has the ability to adjust to unknown circumstances while keeping the end goal in sight. From a technical standpoint, he is a certified GHG Inventory Quantifier by Canadian Standards Association. He is skilled in GHG emissions quantification and verification for both organizations and projects. Pascal held various positions in a large Canadian aerospace company, the latest one being a specialist in ecodesign for five years. In this role Pascal was leading the life cycle assessment of a complete aircraft through the management of over 60 suppliers. He has trained several hundred people in ecodesign. He has strong expertise in biofuels and other alternative fuels. Pascal previously worked for over six years as an engineer at the largest European plane manufacturer in France. During his career he has had numerous responsibilities in sectors such as engineering, ground tests, simulations and aftermarket support. Pascal has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Urbana Champaign, IL, and a Bachelor of Engineering from École des Mines in France.
